ABANDONED
Come back, I admit
I was deceived I swore allegiance to the other side I silenced your voice Sentenced your freedom To conform, behave, comply I was obedient to a disturbed vanity Where instant distractions Become favourite addictions I couldn’t thrive so you were traded in I danced to their untimely rhythm upon their centre stage And fell for the sugar-coated lies And gift-wrapped illusions, words tied I was captured, sanitized Paralysed by a need to please Stifled by this dis-ease I allowed it to breathe Under my skin, an allergy Crawling, spreading, I was taken hostage By this distorted version of life I understood your flight But the slings and arrows are no longer I became strong, stronger The sticks and stones couldn’t harm any more I held my fears in place Sat face to face with these demons Come, return to me I have awakened I have removed the burden of their ill-fitting uniformity Disentangled As I now hear my laughter Face to face with this impotent reality I am present To re-member Parts of you and I, of us The veil lies scorched beside my bare feet And the flames ignite, yet again Yes here lies the road to reclamation That will birth the future The Mother, she shares her gifts of renewal In the sweetness of her nectar Yes the drum will beat once more To the rhythm of your reasons And together, we will shine and rejoice and shine In the pure alchemy of this eternal reunion Come Take my hand The time has come. |
